Your Town Tomorrow (Detroit, 2007 - 2011 edit)

Life in Detroit feels strangely futuristic. It is a prescient model of a post-industrial, post-American world. But what does it mean to live in the aftermath of widespread cultural and economic collapse? This series of photographs explores new topographies, new forms of urban life. Detroit is capable of offering these scenarios because of its unique place in our current socio-economic system.

Although documentary in nature, these images are not meant to survey a Detroit 'as is.' Rather, they function as a glimpse into an alternate reality, where everyday life stands poised on a crossroads: between hope and despair, vulnerability and strength, the past and the future.
